using umlauts

I've been wondering how to type umlauts on the keyboard.  Googling "typing umlauts" returned this link:

This  page gives a great "cheat sheet" for typing umlauts using an English keyboard.  Thanks to Nancy Thuleen for posting this great information!

I was slightly disappointed, this page does not have instructions on how to type heavy metal band name umlauts - think "This is Spinal Tap".  I still don't know how to type a umlauted n.
