LIghting The Background
Been shooting a lot of low key lighting for a while now - I have gotten lazy about lighting the background. I have basically been letting backgrounds go completely black with no shadow detail. Decided to try throwing some light on the background to try to get a little shadow detail.
Here's the shot:
I placed a small strip light above the beer and shot down to the black velvet backdrop. Of course, like a knucklehead, I kicked up the contrast when I processed this shot, so the background goes dark and loses the detail.
So the moral(s) of the story - light for more shadow detail in the background. and don't mess with the contrast too much when processing the shot!!!
